Share My Desktop (SMD) is a simple little wrapper application that Icreated for OSXvnc in AppleScript Studio. SMD makes initiating a VNCserver very simple - just click a button! VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing. "It is, in essence, a remotedisplay system which allows you to view a computing 'desktop'environment not only on the machine where it is running, but fromanywhere on the Internet and from a wide variety of machinearchitectures." VNC technology was developed by AT & T Laboratories. SMD was developed as a tool to offer better support from Tech Supportstaff. SMD can be installed on client systems, so if the client needsassistance, they can call the Tech Support staff, initiate the VNCserver, and give the Tech Support staff the connection information. Whenthe Tech Support staff is able to share the client's screen, they canSHOW the client what they need to do to fix a problem, rather than tryto guide them by voice alone.
